Frequently Asked Questions

What books do I need to buy?

None! Your books and materials are included in your lesson fee. I use a variety of method books and other resources, based on a student’s age and skill level. If you want to continue using a book or have a song you’ve always wanted to learn to play, I’m happy to use those as well.

How much do lessons cost?

Tuition is $22 per lesson, due before the first lesson of the month.

What are your practice expectations?

This depends on a student’s age, skill level, and goals. You should strive to practice at least 4 days a week. I will work with you to determine how long you should try to practice each day, but I generally recommend:

  • young students and beginners – 10 to 20 min a day
  • elementary students – 20 to 30 min a day
  • intermediate students – 30 to 45 min a day
  • advanced students – 45+ min a day

How often and how long are the lessons?

Lessons will generally be half an hour each week. Older and/or more advanced students may need longer lessons or more flexibility.

How old does my child need to be to start lessons?

I teach students as young as 4.

How does billing work?

You can pay by check, cash, Venmo, or Paypal. You will receive an invoice at the beginning of each month based on how many lessons you have scheduled for the month.

What is your lesson make-up policy?

I understand that sickness and other life events happen. If you will be unable to attend your lesson you can cancel your regular weekly lesson and reschedule for a different available time in the student portal.

Do you teach adult lessons?

Absolutely! If you hated lessons as a kid and always wished you could try again, or if you never took lessons and wonder if it’s too late, now is the perfect time to start!

Do I need to have a piano at home?

You will need something to practice on, ideally a piano or electric keyboard with 88 weighted keys. If you need help finding something I’m happy to help.
